The Men’s Golf Association at Stono Ferry was established in 2003. Our mission is to promote camaraderie among our members along with the fun competition. Our members share our commitment to maintaining the integrity and valued traditions associated with the game of golf.
The MGA has grown to over two hundred members. Over the past fifteen years more than a thousand members have participated in dozens and dozens of MGA sponsored tournaments. This year there will be nine events including our signature Member-Guest tournament along other MGA traditions such as the Stono Cup, Member-Member and Club Championship. Membership is open to members of both The Links at Stono Ferry and The Plantation Club on Edisto Island.
The MGA benefits from the strong support of the ownership and professional staff of the clubs who are dedicated to providing a high quality golf experience. We are fortunate to have two outstanding golf courses that are well maintained in beautiful low country settings and provide a challenge to all levels of golfers. The staff is instrumental to our success by providing their expertise along with promoting and working events. The Club often provides carts and other reduced fees in support of MGA activities. The MGA reciprocates by purchasing gift certificates from the Pro Shop as prizes and using the Grill for food and beverage services. The MGA also provides financial support for capital improvement projects and youth golf programs at the Club. The high level of cooperation is a win-win for all.
Another key ingredient of the MGA is sponsorship. Many local businesses and individuals provide financial support to the MGA. In exchange for their contributions we provide signage and other advertising for their services along with some complimentary golf. Sponsor contributions allow the MGA to produce high quality events at significantly less cost for our members. All members are encouraged to support our Sponsors.
